LEGALIZATION OF CANNABIS AND HEMP PRODUCTS
Right off the top: Government, Federally, at the State level, and even down to local level, get out of my living room, my bedroom, and my kitchen... oh, and let's not forget my back yard! As long as I am not harming anyone else, what I do in my own home, and in my yard is my business.
I am fully in support of the legalization of cannabis and hemp products, both medically and recreationally.
Our rights and freedoms as United States citizens are (and have been) being slowly and deliberately stripped away. This controversial subject is but one prime example. Remember when we were told how we are the most free country in the world?
We have the right to light up a cigarette, which does harm to our bodies and is reported to cause death, and has also been blamed for the death of others in the form of second-hand smoke (as a side note: even this right is getting slowly taken away by local and State ordinances).
We have the right to drink more than our fill of alcohol, which has been attributed to an astronomical number of deaths, and much higher acts of violence and crimes.
We have a right to be medicated beyond belief by professionals (who must know our bodies far more than we do ourselves) with legal, approved prescription drugs that, IF they successfully treat what ails us, also comes with a vast amount of adverse side effects, such as liver and kidney damage, and so much more (many even stating that it could lead to death). The list of potential adverse side effects are far longer and even more serious than the alleged benefits to such medications in their treatment of your symptoms.
We have the right and freedom to use over the counter medications, freely and legally because they are approved... such as Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, cold and flu mess, and so many more... even though extended use may affect such things as liver and kidney functions.
But, my fellow citizens, we cannot use and/or grow cannabis and hemp products legally... which have no reported (though they have been studied extensively for more decades than I've been alive) side effects, and have not been officially attributed to cancers, or any other form of illness or death. Statistics have shown that cannabis has no known connection to higher rates of violence or other crime.
We cannot legally determine for ourselves (because doctors, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and even politicians know better than we do, ourselves, what is best for us and our bodies) that such natural (not synthetic) products are the best treatment for our pain, disease, and afflictions.
I truly believe (and have seen factual information as such) that our law makers have interests in pharmaceutical companies, interests in privatized prison system, etc. No wonder they don't want to legalize cannabis!
